[Nifty Idea] Open Design Critiques and Work Travelogs
White Whale Web Services, Oakland, CA, create blogs for clients and their constituencies to publicly comment on the firm’s work in progress—such as their redesign of Southwestern University, including Kenyon College and Haverford College. White Whale also writes and publishes a Business Travel Diary for more behind-the-scenes views on their work activities. As Gary Vaynerchuk of Wine Library TV said at this year’s Seed Conference, “Talk about stuff—what you do for work, that your crap looked weird yesterday. Everything’s going to be out there, you won’t be able to hide anything, so embrace it.” White Whale is one of many firms that embrace defrosting design work by sharing the decisions behind it.
