Olympic Image Makers
The incredible range of images of unique moments realized in the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing capitalized on digital technology. It made for a quick turnaround of visual assets: images went through a fast-paced workflow, from photographer to editor to writer to media channels. With each consecutive event, a team of imagists was ready to freeze frames. Newsweek maintained a Visions of China: A 2008 Olympics Pictures Blog and there’s The 2008 Olympics in Pictures by The New York Times. The Olympics’ theme of unity was further reinforced by both the event’s images and their global immediacy.
